Is it just me or is planning seasonal activities with kids insanely complicated? Like I want to do pumpkin picking in October but there's only 2 weekends and they're busy. Want to do apple picking - same problem. Snow activities happen on weekends when everyone else is doing them too. And then I'm the dad scrambling last minute trying to find availability. How do y'all actually plan this stuff in advance?
The real move: do your seasonal stuff slightly off-season. Pumpkin picking in early October or late September when it's less crowded. Apple picking in September instead of October. Cuts the complexity in half
lol the seasonal stuff window is like 2 weeks. october is booked solid by mid-september, spring is rained out half the time. i've given up trying to make it perfect

I started planning this stuff like 4 months ahead now. write it in my phone calendar the second i think of it. still doesn't always work but at least i'm not scrambling last minute
We planned an apple orchard trip for October and it rained every single weekend that month. Finally did it in November when the orchard had like 12 people there total. Sometimes the universe is doing you a favor
Pro tip from this response: start looking at orchards/farms in August for their actual peak dates. Sounds early but they post their schedules months ahead and it helps you work backward to actually get a weekend free

pro tip: stop thinking you need to do it during the 'peak' season. my kids honestly don't care if we go pumpkin picking in september or november. they just want to go. saves SO much stress
