We just hired our first nanny and I'm paranoid. Started looking at Nanit and Owlet cameras. Does anyone actually use these? Is it helpful or just feeding anxiety? Don't want to be that creepy dad but also... peace of mind?
We use Nanit and honestly it gave me peace of mind for like a week then I stopped checking it constantly. The real test is whether you trust the nanny once you've seen her in action. Camera just confirms that feeling.
Pro tip: don't tell the nanny about the camera right away if you want genuine footage. My bad for mentioning ours immediately because then she was way too perform-y the first few weeks.
This is worth the investment just for your mental health at work. You'll be way less anxious if you can check in and see everything's fine. Don't let anyone shame you for wanting that.
Owlet is solid for the safety monitoring angle especially if you have an infant. Nanit is better for the general monitoring. They serve different purposes so depends what you're actually worried about.

The paranoia is normal but be careful you don't accidentally make your nanny feel like you don't trust her by obsessing over the footage. I'd say use it as a tool but not a crutch.
