Anyone doing the remote work thing successfully?

Thinking about asking if we can go fully remote at my office. I'm in IT so it should be possible. Has anyone here made that transition? I'm worried about missing team culture but also I'd literally save 2 hours commuting every day. That's extra time with the kids before bed, maybe actually making dinner instead of drive-through again. What's the downside people don't talk about? Is it hard to advance your career when you're not in the office face time?

Do it. I've been fully remote for three years now and the time I save on commute goes straight to my kids. Plus I can make them lunch instead of spending fifteen bucks a day at restaurants. Worst they say is no.

I went hybrid and it's been perfect for me. Three days in office keeps me connected with the team but two days remote lets me actually focus on deep work without meetings every hour. IT should definitely be doable remotely.

Go for it. If your company can make it work, the time you save on commute alone is worth it. And being home when the kids need you is a game changer.

IT remote work is definitely doable from what I've seen. The homework situation is real though with school-age kids, so having that flexibility could actually help you be more present for that stuff.

Just make sure your home setup can actually support it. I tried remote for a month and failed because my internet kept dropping during calls. Fixed that and it's been great since.
