Anyone else doing remote work but still expected to be available 24/7?
I work from home and its great for seeing the kids at lunch but my manager keeps texting me at 6pm about work stuff. Last Friday I was helping my son with homework and got called into an emergency meeting. I don't think they respect that I'm still working even though I'm home. Trying to set boundaries but scared it'll hurt my next review. Does anyone have a script for this convo or am I just overthinking?
This is the exact reason I set boundaries now. I work from home too and my manager learned real quick that 6pm means I'm off the clock. I told him during my interview that I need clear work hours and I stick to it. If something's truly urgent, okay, but casual texts? That's what tomorrow's email is for.
