Anyone else doing the pickup/dropoff shuffle?

Mornings: me = dropoff guy. My commute starts later so I do 7:30am school run with my 2nd grader. Afternoons: wife does pickup because her job is flexible.

It's working surprisingly well but some days I'm running 20 mins late to work because of traffic/kid needs. My boss hasn't said anything yet but I'm worried it's noticed.

Does anyone else do this split arrangement? How do you handle it without jeopardizing your job?

Being the reliable dropoff person actually gives me more credibility with my kids somehow. Like we've got our thing. 2nd grade is a fun age too.

Mornings are easier for me too so we've got the same system. The key is having it locked in so nobody has to think about it. No debates at 7:15am.

We do the same thing but reversed. I do pickup since my wife's commute is rough in the afternoons. It's chaotic some days but honestly I wouldn't trade those 15 minutes of car time with my kids for anything.

The 7:30am dropout run is rough though. Mad respect. I can barely function at that hour let alone manage a kid's backpack, water bottle, and attitude.

How do you handle it on the days when you have to be somewhere early? That's always the wildcard that messes with our schedule.

Pickup is the real shuffle at our house. My son's got soccer, my daughter's got piano. Trying to coordinate that with work calls is basically impossible some days.
