Anyone else stressed about layoffs while having 2 kids in daycare?

Daycare is $2400 a month. Mortgage is $2100. My wife just went part-time after our second was born. I know my company is doing restructuring and I'm hearing rumblings about my department getting hit. I've been trying to stay calm and just do my job but I'm literally losing sleep. Started updating my LinkedIn profile just in case. How do other guys handle this kind of stress without it bleeding into family time?

The layoff worry is real. I lost a contract gig two years ago and it was terrifying with two kids depending on us. Started freelancing on the side just to have a safety net now.

Have you thought about job hunting now while you still have a paycheck? Not saying you should jump ship but sometimes moving laterally to a more stable place actually pays better. Just a thought.

That's brutal man. $4500 a month just for daycare and mortgage before taxes and everything else. Have you guys looked into any assistance programs or childcare tax credits? Our company helps with some of that.

This is why your wife going part-time is actually smart even though it feels scary. One income is way less risky than two in this economy. Hang in there.
