Back to office 3 days a week after 2 years full remote - killing me

My company decided hybrid is the new normal. Two years I've been home, in my home office, having lunch with my family. Now I'm losing 3 hours a day to commute and in-office time. My kids noticed immediately. They're upset I'm gone and I'm exhausted. The work I do is exactly the same, literally nobody cares whether I'm in an office or home. This feels like my employer just wants to see butts in seats. Talked to my boss about going back to 2 days but got told "that's not the policy." Looking at other jobs now. Feels crazy to leave over this but I didn't move back from remote to be gone half my week.

Man, I feel this in my soul. I'm three days a week back in Atlanta and it's brutal. The commute alone is eating 10 hours a week I used to spend with my kids. Coffee is my best friend right now.

Hybrid is honestly the worst of both worlds sometimes. You're not fully in the office culture, but you're also losing the flexibility of being home. Have you thought about negotiating to maybe shift those days to back-to-back instead of spread out?

Two years is a long time to get used to that setup. The transition back is gonna suck for a few weeks but you'll find your rhythm. The key is protecting that lunch time - don't let work kill it.
