Best apps/tools for managing schedule with spouse?

We keep double-booking ourselves for school events and doctor appointments. Tried Google Calendar shared but we both forget to update it. Someone mentioned Cozi? Also looked at Taska. What's everyone using? Need something that actually gets checked, not just set-it-and-forget-it.
