Boss asked why I left early today

Had to pick up my oldest from school because he threw up. I explained that and he said 'Can't your wife handle it?' First of all she was already at work. Second of all even if she wasn't why would it be her responsibility and not mine? Trying to stay professional but that comment really bothered me. Anyone else dealing with this kind of attitude at work?

Exactly. My wife works full time too, so we split this stuff all the time. Sometimes I'm the one who has to leave, sometimes she is. It's just what parents do. Sounds like your boss is stuck in 1985.

That's rough man. Your boss needs a reality check - being a parent is a shared job, not just the mom's responsibility. You did the right thing picking up your kid when he needed you.

I've had those conversations before and honestly it gets easier when you just own it. Your son was sick and needed his dad - that's not something you apologize for at work. Hopefully he comes around.
