Boss scheduled meeting during my kid's school play

I specifically told my manager 3 weeks ago that today was off limits for meetings. I have my son's first school play at 2pm. Boss just sends calendar invite for an important client call at 1:30. I'm going to miss the first 30 minutes for sure. How do you guys handle this stuff without looking like you don't care about your job?

That's rough man. I'd loop back with your boss today if possible and remind them this was locked in. Your son's first play is a big deal and they need to know you're serious about prioritizing family time.

Been there with scheduling conflicts. See if you can reschedule or send your regrets to the meeting. Your kid will remember you being there a lot longer than you'll remember that conference call.
