Career advancement or being there for the kids?
Got a chance to transfer to a bigger role with way more traveling. Like 40% of the month on the road. My kids are 8, 6, and 4. The money would be really good and it's the kind of promotion I've been chasing for years. But my wife basically said it's not happening without her resentment turning into something worse. Part of me feels like I'm giving up on my career ambitions and I'm frustrated about it. Anyone else have to choose between their career and family? How did you make peace with it?
This is the one that keeps me up at night, man. 40% travel sounds like your kids would barely see you. More money is great but can you get that back later? You can't get these years back. What does your gut tell you?
I get the career thing but honestly I turned down bigger roles to stay present with my kids. No regrets. The money isn't worth missing their childhood.
