Career advancement vs being present - how do you guys balance it

Got offered a promotion that would mean more travel and longer hours. The pay bump is solid but I'd miss a lot with the kids. My oldest is 7 and my youngest just turned 4. I keep thinking about all the soccer games and school pickups I'd miss but my wife also wants us to get ahead financially for college and retirement. How do other dads handle this? Do you take the advancement or stay put for a few years? Feeling pretty stuck right now honestly.
