Career advancement vs being there for my kids

Got offered a promotion but it's a 45 minute commute and probably 55+ hour weeks. My youngest is in first grade and my oldest wants to play soccer. Right now I'm home by 5:30 and we have dinner together most nights. The money would be solid but I keep thinking about all the stuff I'd miss. Is this just the crossroads every dad hits or am I overthinking it?

Your kids will remember you being at their games more than they'll remember if you made VP or not. That first grader especially needs you around right now.

Man, I've been in this exact spot. The promotion looks shiny but those first grade moments and soccer games don't come back. I turned down a bigger title and honestly never looked back.

Real talk - 55 hours a week plus a 45 minute commute means you're basically missing the whole family piece. I learned the hard way that some opportunities aren't worth the trade-off.
