Career stalling because I won't travel or work nights anymore

Before kids I was grinding hard, taking every project that came up, staying late, traveling to client sites. Now my manager keeps asking me to lead this big initiative that would require 50+ hours a week and frequent flights. I know saying no probably tanks my promotion chances but my oldest has his soccer season and my wife is already maxed out. Feel like I'm stuck choosing between being a good dad and advancing my career. Anyone else hit this wall?

This is the real talk right here. I made the same choice with my two kids and honestly family dinners are worth way more than climbing that ladder right now. Your manager will respect you more when you're honest about priorities anyway.

I hear you. I stopped chasing promotions that required constant travel once my son was born. Your kids need you around more than your manager needs you grinding 24/7. That trade-off has been worth it for me.
