Career stalling because I won't work 60 hour weeks anymore
Been at my company 8 years and was on track for promotion. Then I had kids and honestly I just don't want to work like that anymore. I do my job well in 40-45 hours but apparently that's not enough to move up. My boss basically said I need to show more commitment. What's really eating me is I feel like I'm letting my family down by not pushing harder, but I'm also missing so much by working all the time. Is this just how it is or are there companies that actually value dads who want balance?
I feel you on this one. After three kids, I realized no promotion is worth missing the everyday stuff. You're doing your job well and showing up for your family, that's what matters.
