Career vs kids, feel like I'm failing at both

Got offered a promotion that would be a dream job but it requires more travel and longer hours. My daughter asked when I'd be at her soccer game next week and I realized I don't even know my kids schedule anymore. My boss is pushing for an answer and I feel stuck. Money would be great but I already miss so much. How do other guys handle this? Is it possible to be ambitious at work without sacrificing family?

This one's rough but your daughter asking about the soccer game tells you what matters most to her. The promotion will still be there, but she won't be 10 forever. Have you talked to the hiring manager about flexibility?

I turned down a bigger opportunity to keep Sundays for my family. Best decision I made. Dream jobs are great but missing your kid's milestones hits different. Worth having a real conversation with whoever's offering before you decide.
