Considering asking for flexible schedule after new baby
Second kid coming in 2 months and I'm trying to figure out if I should ask my company about doing 4 tens instead of 5 eights. Trying not to tank my career but also don't want to miss everything. Anyone done this successfully? What did your employer say?
Absolutely ask for it. I did the same thing when my second was born and my company was way more flexible than I expected. Worst they can say is no, but a lot of employers are getting better about this stuff. Even if they can't do full flexible schedule, maybe negotiate a couple work-from-home days a week.
