Daycare injury report and I wasn't even there to know about it

Got a call from daycare at 3pm that my 3yo fell and bumped his head. He was fine, no concussion risk, but I didn't even get to see him till 5 hours later when pickup. Wife was in back-to-back meetings and couldn't get away either. I know this is not the end of the world and he's okay, but I felt SO helpless. Like, I pay $2k/month to have my kid taken care of but I'm still not there when something happens. Is this just part of the deal or should we be looking for different care?

This is why I appreciate that our daycare is pretty detailed in their incident reports. Got a full description of how it happened and what they observed after. Makes the anxiety easier to manage.

The knowing you can't do anything to protect them from every bump is one of those hard dad lessons.

The worst part is not being there to see he's actually okay with your own eyes. Hope the little guy bounced back fine from it.

Kids are resilient but yeah that 3pm call gets your adrenaline pumping. Did he seem bothered by it when you picked him up or was he back to normal?

Man that's rough. Did they give you any details about what happened or just the general 'he fell' explanation? Those calls will make your heart jump out of your chest every time.
