Feeling like I'm failing at everything
Career is stalling because I'm not putting in the hours the other guys are. Kids are getting my tired leftover self after work. My wife is frustrated I'm not more help around the house. My boss asked me why I'm not interested in the promotion I used to want. The truth? I'm exhausted. I'm trying to be everything to everyone and I'm doing mediocre at all of it. When does it get easier? Or do you just accept you can't have it all?
I felt this in my soul. The hours thing is brutal because the guys without kids don't have that same pull to get home. Have you talked to your manager about flexible hours or results-based work instead of face time? Sometimes they'll work with you if you're getting the job done.
