Finally got approved for 8 weeks paternity leave and I'm terrified

Got the official approval today and honestly I'm freaking out. Two months away from the office sounds amazing but my boss already sent me a message about "staying in touch during the transition." I know he doesn't mean it harmfully but it feels like the expectation is there that I'll still be working. How do you guys actually disconnect when you take paternity leave? Did anyone here manage to truly take the time off without checking emails?

That terror is totally normal but honestly those 8 weeks are going to fly by and you're going to wish you had more time. The office will be fine without you. Your family needs you more right now. Try to let yourself enjoy it instead of stressing about work.

Congrats on getting the leave approved! The terrified feeling is actually pretty common from what I've seen in here. Just remember you don't need to have everything perfectly figured out. You're gonna learn as you go and that's okay.

The anxiety before leave is real but I promise the office stuff will feel so small once you're in those 8 weeks. Focus on being present with your family and the work stress will be there when you get back anyway.
