FINALLY got the job that doesn't require constant emails after 6pm
Switched companies in October and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. But it's been 3 months and people actually... log off? My Slack doesn't blow up at 9pm?
Took a small pay cut (maybe 8%) but having actual evenings with the kids has been worth it already. The guilt I felt before was insane - didn't realize how much it was eating me.
For anyone stressed about leaving a high-pressure job: it's worth exploring. You might find something that pays fine and doesn't require your soul.
This is the kind of post that makes me realize I need to seriously look for a new job. The 8% pay cut is worth it just hearing you describe normal evenings without panic.
