Finally set boundaries with work email after 6pm
Started leaving my work phone in the office two weeks ago. My boss texted about it but I explained that I need that time with my family. First week was weird and anxiety-filled but now? I'm actually present at dinner instead of half-listening while checking Slack. My wife noticed the difference immediately. The work doesn't burn down without me responding at 8pm to some non-urgent email and honestly it feels good to prove that to myself. Took me 8 years and almost burning out to learn this lesson.
That's awesome man. Setting that boundary is huge, especially with three kids at home. I've been thinking about doing the same thing but haven't pulled the trigger yet. How's your boss handling it now after that first week?
