Flexible schedules saved my marriage

My company let me negotiate 4 10 hour days instead of 5 8s. So I work Mon-Thu and have Friday to handle all the stuff that was piling up. Doctor appointments, grocery shopping, helping at school. Takes so much pressure off my wife. We actually eat dinner together most nights now. Sounds simple but this adjustment has been huge for us. If anyone's at a job that won't be flexible, might be worth asking. Worst they say is no.

This is brilliant. A full extra day with the kids every week changes everything. How did you even get your company to agree to that? That seems rare.

Love this for you. That's the kind of arrangement that should be standard honestly. Did your marriage actually improve with having an extra day together too or is the benefit mostly from you being less stressed?

This right here. Not every job allows it but if yours does, it's worth fighting for. Friday was made for doing kid stuff and catching up on the house stuff you don't have time for during the week.

That's the dream right there. Even just having a Friday to breathe instead of cramming it all into evenings and weekends makes a huge difference. Glad you found a setup that actually works.

Man, that's awesome. I work swing shifts so I can't do that exact schedule, but having one dedicated day to knock out all the appointments and errands would be a game changer. Your wife probably appreciates not being the default person handling everything.

Flexible schedules are underrated. I went to four 10s for a while and it was transformational. Having that extra day just completely changes your mindset about work and family balance.
