I asked if I could adjust my hours to do 7am-3pm instead of 9-5 so I could be home when my kids get off the bus. My boss seemed cool with it at first but then promotions came around and I didn't get picked. My colleague said it was because leadership doesn't see me as committed anymore. Im furious. Is this legal? Anyone else deal with this?
Sorry man, that sucks. The 7-3 shift is so much better for school pickup and honestly sets you up to be more present with your kids. Their loss if they can't see that a flexible dad is a more engaged employee.

Have you looked into what your company's actual policy is on this? Sometimes HR is more flexible than the direct manager wants you to think. Worth a conversation with them directly.
