Got passed over for promotion because of my schedule
So this happened yesterday and I'm still angry about it. My manager basically said I'm not 'committed enough' because I won't take on a role that requires 50+ hour weeks and frequent travel. I've been a solid performer, hit my metrics, deliver on time. But because I need to pick my kids up from school and want to be home for dinner, apparently I'm not leadership material. Is this just how it is? Do I have to sacrifice everything to get ahead or am I working for the wrong company?
This makes me so mad on your behalf. The assumption that flexible scheduling = less committed is complete BS. Some of my best work gets done on my schedule that works with my kids.
