Got passed over for promotion, pretty sure it's because of my flexibility schedule
I requested to go down to 4 days a week after my second kid was born 2 years ago. It's been great for family time but today found out my younger coworker with fewer projects got the promotion I was up for. I'm not crazy right? This feels like it's because I chose family over grinding 60 hour weeks. Not sure if I should look elsewhere or just accept this is my ceiling now.
That's rough man. I went through something similar when I asked for flexibility after my daughter was born. It's frustrating because you're literally just trying to be present for your kids, but some managers see it as not being committed. Have you documented all the work you've accomplished on that 4-day schedule? Sometimes pushing back with results helps.
