Got passed over for promotion today
The promotion went to someone without kids and I can't help but think it's because I sometimes leave at 5 to pick up my daughter or take a mental health day when stuff is rough at home. Logically I know my work is solid but emotionally I'm feeling pretty defeated. Wondering if I should look for somewhere more family friendly or if I'm just being paranoid. Any of you dealt with this?
I get the frustration but don't assume it's about the kids. Ask your manager directly what you need to work on. Maybe the other person had specific experience or just happened to be in the right place. Staying bitter won't help your next opportunity.
