Got passed over for the promotion I wanted
They said I'm great with what I do but not ready for the next level. Honestly it stings because I was hoping for the pay bump with another kid on the way. I know I didn't push myself as hard as the guy who got it but I also chose to leave at 5pm most days to be with my family. Part of me regrets that. Part of me doesn't. Now I'm second guessing everything about my career choices.
That's brutal, man. Not ready for the next level when you're crushing it at your current level makes no sense. What'd they say you actually need? Sometimes companies just have weird politics about who they promote regardless of skill.
