Got promoted AND got to keep my flexible arrangement
Still kind of shocked this happened lol. Was certain I'd have to choose between moving up and maintaining my WFH flexibility. But my new director actually gets it - she's got two kids herself. We negotiated that I keep my Tuesday-Thursday office days and can work from home Mon/Wed/Fri. It's actually BETTER for my team because I'm more present and focused those office days instead of just being burned out. Posting this because I see a lot of posts about sacrificing one for the other, but it's possible to push back if your value is clear. Took me a year and good performance reviews but worth it.
The fact that she's a working mom with two kids herself is probably the reason this worked. She knows that the flexibility isn't a perk, it's what actually lets people do their jobs well without sacrificing their family. That's the future of work honestly.
