How do you explain your job to your kids?

My son asked me today what I do for work and I realized I couldn't really explain it in a way a 9 year old would understand. I work in data analytics and it's not like I'm building stuff or helping people in an obvious way. Feel kind of dumb that I couldn't answer my own kid. Made me think about whether what I do even matters honestly.
