Just got approved for 12 weeks paternity leave and I'm terrified

So I finally got the okay from my company to take the full 12 weeks when baby #2 arrives in March. I should be excited right? But honestly I'm freaking out. My boss keeps hinting that taking that much time might hurt my chances at the promotion cycle next year. I know that's probably illegal but how do you prove it? Plus I'm the higher earner so I feel guilty being away from work for 3 months even though my wife desperately needs the support. Anyone else deal with this guilt or am I just being paranoid about the promotion thing?

Being home for three months sounds scary until you realize how much you actually get to be present. Don't overthink it, just enjoy your kid.

That fear is totally normal man. I was terrified too but those 12 weeks with my second were something I'll never forget. You've got this.
