Just got approved for 3 months paternity leave and I'm freaking out

So the company actually came through. 12 weeks fully paid starting next month. Part of me is excited but the other part is terrified. I haven't taken more than a week off in 5 years and my inbox is already giving me anxiety just thinking about it. How do you guys actually disconnect when you're on leave? Do you tell your team not to contact you or do you check in once a week? I don't want to be that guy who comes back to 500 emails but I also don't want to waste this time thinking about work.

Three months is a gift, man. Use it to actually be present instead of just physically there. You'll figure out the rhythm, trust me.

Dude, that terror is totally normal. I was the same way before my first leave. Here's the thing though - you're gonna blink and those 12 weeks will be gone, so soak it in. The work will still be there when you get back.
