Just got approved for 3 months paternity leave and I'm honestly freaking out

So the baby is due in 6 weeks and HR finally approved my full 3 month leave request. I should be excited right? But I'm sitting here thinking about all the projects I'm gonna leave hanging and my boss already seems annoyed even though I gave plenty of notice. Anyone else dealt with this guilt trip feeling? My wife keeps telling me I'm doing the right thing by being there but my brain is stuck in work mode.

Three months is incredible, seriously. Use that time to figure out what works for your family instead of worrying about it now. The fact that you got approved means your work sees you're coming back, so just be present while you're home.

That's totally normal to freak out man. I was terrified before my kid came but those first few months go by so fast. You're gonna look back on that paternity leave as some of the best time you ever had.

My advice is don't overthink it before the baby even gets here. Once they arrive everything changes anyway and you'll just figure it out day by day. Enjoy those early mornings when they're still asleep, that's when you get your sanity back.
