Just got promoted and it might ruin everything
Got offered a senior manager role with a significant raise. Problem is it's going to require a lot more hours, probably 60+ week territory. My kids are 4 and 7. I've been pretty present so far and they know my schedule. The money would be great for college savings and security. But I feel like I'd miss their whole childhood. My wife says it's my call but I can tell she's worried. This shouldn't be this hard of a decision. Any of you guys take on demanding roles? How do you manage it?
Congrats on the offer but yeah that's a tough call. I turned down a promotion a couple years ago specifically because I knew the hours would kill my ability to be present with the kids. Money's not worth it if you're missing their whole childhood.
