Just took paternity leave and it's the best decision I've made

Four weeks in and I can honestly say this has changed my life. Got to be there for all the firsts with my son, watched my wife recover without stressing about bills, and bonded with my kid in a way I never would have if I jumped straight back to the office. My company wasn't thrilled but honestly I don't care. This time is priceless and you can't get it back. If you're on the fence about it, do it. Your career will still be there.

This is awesome to hear. I'm seriously considering pushing for this when my second one comes in a few months. Everyone keeps telling me to suck it up but posts like this make me think the investment is worth it.

Glad you took it and glad it's working for you. Four weeks is the sweet spot where you see real changes and bond without losing your mind. Did you feel any pressure to cut it short or were you able to just fully unplug?

Which firsts are you most glad you didn't miss? I'm asking because my wife is pushing for me to at least do two weeks when our third arrives and I want to know what the real value is beyond just being around.
