Just took paternity leave and my career is already changing

Took two months off when my twins were born. Felt like the right call. Coming back now and noticed I got passed over for a promotion I was definitely getting before the leave. Nobody said it directly but the timing feels like no coincidence. Already seeing some coworkers making moves I was set up for. Worth it to be there for my family but it definitely cost me something professionally. Anyone else experience this?

Two months is the right call for sure. I only took 2 weeks and honestly wish I'd done more. The career stuff will sort itself out but those early moments with your kids, you can't get that back.

That's rough and honestly more common than it should be. Two months is what you needed for your twins though, and that matters. The promotion will come around again, but those early days with newborns don't.

Congrats on taking the time off man. Two months is solid. I did the same with my twins and yeah, things shifted when I came back. People treated me differently, some good conversations changed. Just curious what kind of changes you're seeing?
