Just turned down a promotion to stay with my family
Posted this in another thread but wanted to share here. Got offered a senior director role at my company - 25% raise, bigger team, etc. The catch? It would require 2-3 nights/week travel to client sites plus evenings spent on strategic stuff.
My boys are 6 and 4. I realized I've already missed so much with them while I was chasing growth and titles. Said no thanks.
Feels weird and a little scary tbh, but also the most right decision I've made in years. For the first time in a while, I'm not stressed about 'what's next' in my career. Just wanted to put this out there for anyone in a similar position - the promotion isn't everything.
lol i did the opposite and took a promotion with travel. regret it every single week. you made the right call. your kids won't remember the bigger title, they'll remember if you showed up.
