My boss scheduled a meeting for 6pm right when I do bedtime with the kids

This is the third time this month. I work in tech and my boss is one of those guys who doesn't really understand why people can't just work whenever. I made it clear when I started working from home that 6-8pm is family time / bedtime routine and I won't be available. He scheduled a "quick sync" for 6:15pm tonight. I'm already irritated just thinking about it. Do I push back again or am I being unreasonable for expecting my calendar to actually be respected?

This is rough. Have you considered pushing back on the meeting time directly? I know that feels risky but honestly a lot of bosses don't realize how tone-deaf this looks until you spell it out. Might surprise you.

That's such disrespect for your time. Third time in one month means it's a pattern, not an accident. I'd be documenting these and maybe having a real conversation about your work schedule and what you need.

Same boat here in Denver, man. I've had to have the hard conversation with my manager about core hours. Started blocking my calendar from 7-8pm as 'blocked time' and framed it as non-negotiable. Took a few weeks but he got the message. Tech culture needs to change on this stuff.
