5yo asked me today why I have to go to the office so much. I tried to explain bills and stuff but honestly it hit different coming from her. Made me realize I need to set some better boundaries. Starting to block off fridays afternoon for family stuff. Need to make some adjustments before they're older and I missed it all.
Those questions from our kids hit different than anything else. Sounds like she's making you think about what really matters, which honestly might be the best thing she could do.
Man, that's a tough one. My kids ask me similar stuff and it always catches me off guard. The honest answer is probably worth way more than any explanation about bills though.
Do you go in on the weekends? If so, do you have the ability to work from home in the morning before you have to go into the office?
One thing I have done is have a little routine where you spend 15-20 minutes of "special time" together and go walk to get the mail, take the dog out, etc. Go to the park, etc. From what I've read, the overall amount of time matters less than being 100% present with them for that duration that is "their" time. Also gives other parent a break. Good luck!

That hits hard. I've been there with my boys and it really makes you rethink priorities. No good answer sometimes, just gotta show up for them when you're home.
