Paternity Leave - Worth Taking It?

Baby number two is coming in 4 months and I can take 6 weeks paid leave. Company culture makes it seem like taking that time is career suicide. My first kid I took like 10 days and I regret it. My wife is losing her mind at the thought of me going back after two weeks. The money would help but so would being present. What did you guys do? Worth the hit to your career or nah?

Took 6 weeks and don't regret a single day. Yeah there's some weird looks or comments from certain people, but most folks respect it. Plus you learn your second kid's personality way faster when you're actually there. Best decision I made.

Company culture that doesn't support you taking paternity leave isn't a culture worth sticking around for long term anyway. Take the time. Your family needs you more than your company culture needs you to prove your commitment.

Take it. Seriously. I know company culture feels like it matters but you'll never get these early weeks back with your second. Those 6 weeks with my newborn were gold. Your job will still be there and honestly employers respect dads who care about being present.
