Promoted but it means more travel. Help me think this through
Got offered a director role that comes with maybe 30% travel. Kids are 7, 5, and 2. I'd make significantly more money which we could use for college funds and paying off the house faster. But I'd miss a lot. My wife is supportive either way but I can tell she's stressed about managing three kids solo some weeks. This feels like it could be a turning point for our family but I don't want to regret missing the early years. What would you do?
The financial bump is real though. What's your current income situation? Sometimes that extra money actually gives you more options later like hiring help or reducing hours elsewhere. Don't just look at the travel number in isolation.
