Promoted but now I never see my family
Got the job I've been working toward for 5 years. Pay is great, title looks good on LinkedIn, but I'm traveling 3 weeks a month and my kids barely know me anymore. My oldest asked my wife when dad was coming home the other day and she said next week. He said 'which week though, because you always say that.' That hit different. Wondering if this is really what success is supposed to feel like or if I totally screwed up my priorities. Anyone else regret moving up?
Congrats on the promotion, but real talk - my library trips with the kids are what I cherish most. Is there any way to renegotiate the travel expectations or find a job at a company that values fathers being present? The money isn't worth missing your kids growing up.
