Promotion came through but it means traveling 50% - do I take it?
Finally got the promotion I've been working toward for 5 years. More money, better title, everything I thought I wanted. Catch is I'd be flying out Sunday nights, back Friday. My oldest is 8 and just made the soccer team. Youngest is 5. Wife is supportive but I can see the hesitation in her eyes. Money isn't the issue - we're doing fine. Is this one of those career moves that looks good on paper but destroys your family life? Looking for honest takes here.
I turned down a promotion that meant 40% travel when my boys were little. No regrets. The money would've been nice but I didn't want to miss that time. Only you can decide if it's worth it for your family though.
