Remote work changed everything for us

So I've been remote for 3 years now and I honestly can't imagine going back to the office. I get to see my kids before school, I'm here when they get home, I can do lunch with them most days. Yeah I still work crazy hours sometimes but at least I'm not losing 2 hours a day to commuting. The company wants us hybrid starting next month and I'm seriously considering looking elsewhere. This job pays well but being present for my family is worth more than a bigger paycheck at this point.

I'm jealous. The lunch hour flexibility alone sounds amazing. Do you find it hard to disconnect from work mode when the kids are home though, or does it feel pretty natural to switch gears?

This resonates. Even on rainy Portland days when my kids are bouncing off the walls, I'd rather be here dealing with it than stuck in traffic. Can't beat the flexibility.

Man, I feel this. With four kids I'd be a zombie commuting two hours a day. Being home to actually see them grow up instead of just catching them at dinner is huge. You're winning at the balance game.

This is huge. Being home has changed everything for me too. I can actually be present for the lunch rush chaos instead of hearing about it third-hand. And my mute button gets a workout but it's worth it. How did your kids adjust to having you around more?

Three years remote and I totally get it. I'd lose my mind having to commute again. Plus the flexibility to help with homework or just be there for the random moments is priceless. Do you find it harder to separate work from home though? That's my constant battle.

Remote work is a game changer. You're not burning two hours a day on the road and actually have energy left for your family at the end of the day. The office people don't get it but we know the real advantage. What industry are you in?

This is the dream setup right here. Being home means I actually know what's happening with homework and can help when they need it. Office life would've meant missing so much.
