Remote work has been a game changer but also complicated

Been fully remote for 2 years now and honestly I love it. No commute, can have lunch with my family, see my kids after school. But it's also blurry. Sometimes I'm working till 7pm and the kids are in the next room thinking I'm available. Had to have a real talk with my family about boundaries. When I'm working I need to be actually working, not half present trying to be super dad. We're getting better at it but it's definitely an adjustment.

This has been great but also means I'm the default 'go grab snacks for the kids' person during meetings. Not complaining though, wouldn't trade it.

That blurry line between work and home is real, especially when your office is 10 feet away. I've been remote for a bit and the trick that helped me was literally closing a door at 5pm, even if it's just mental. Helps the family know dad is off the clock.

Same boat here with three kids and working from home. The lunch thing with the family is gold, but yeah the boundaries get messy fast. Have you tried setting a hard stop time so work doesn't creep into evening family time?

No commute is the dream but man, the lines between work and home life get blurry fast. How do you handle that? I'm still figuring out how to actually disconnect when 5pm hits.

Same here for about a year now and it's been huge for our family. The lunch thing is real - my kids actually know what I look like during the day now. The complicated part for me is knowing when to close the laptop though. Sometimes I'm still working at 7pm.
