Remote work has been a game changer but also weird

Been working from home for 3 years now and I love being there for the kids after school but man, the lines are blurry. Yesterday I had a Zoom call and my son knocked on the door asking for a snack in the middle of presenting quarterly results. Boss could hear him in the background. On the plus side I'm never late to pick up anymore and I get to have lunch with my family. Just gotta remember to wear pants on video calls.

The blurry lines thing is real. I'm still figuring out how to shut it off when the day ends. Some days I'm more present for the kids, other days work just bleeds into everything.

Three years in and still adjusting is totally normal. I think the trick is setting actual boundaries even though your office is 20 feet away. Easier said than done though.

Being there after school is the win though. Yeah it gets weird with the Zoom calls and the background noise, but you're actually there. That's worth the awkwardness.
