Remote Work Has Been a Game Changer for Us
Been working from home for 2 years now and my relationship with my kids is completely different because of it. I'm here for lunch, I can pick them up from school, help with homework before dinner. Yeah I still work 8 hours but not commuting means I get 2 extra hours with the family every day. Company is talking about mandatory office days next month and I'm honestly dreading it. For anyone considering a remote position, it's worth taking a pay cut in some cases. The time you get back is priceless.
People underestimate how much presence matters just in small ways. Being able to be there when they get home from school, make them a snack, hear about their day. That's the stuff that builds the relationship.
