Remote work has been a lifesaver but company wants everyone back

Been working from home for 2 years. I get the kids to school, I'm home when they get back, life is manageable. Saw an email yesterday that starting next month we're going back to the office 5 days a week. My kids are 7 and 9, they're old enough to know what's happening and my 7yo already asked if I'm going to be at their soccer game. I'm not sure how I'm going to make this work. Any of you guys forced back to the office after remote work?

I feel you on this. We just had the same conversation at my company and I'm still fighting it. The routine you've built with the kids is worth advocating for, whether that's negotiating days or finding a workaround.

That's rough, man. Two years of actually being present for drop-off and pickup is huge for the kids. Before you accept it, see if there's any flexibility like hybrid days or compressed schedule options. Worth asking.
