Remote work is a game changer but also confusing

Been working from home for 18 months now and I honestly can't imagine going back. I get to have lunch with my kids, be there when they get home from school, no commute stress. But the downside is work bleeds into family time constantly. My boss will slack me at 8pm and I feel obligated to respond. Drawing boundaries is harder than I expected. Anyone figure out how to keep work in the home office and not in the living room?

Agreed it's a game changer but I'd caution that some companies view it differently. Make sure you're still visible and productive so there's no talk about cutting remote positions later. The privilege is real but it can feel fragile sometimes.

Right there with you. Going back to the office now sounds like torture. You get your life back with remote work - commute time, actual flexibility. If your company ever tries to force you back, that's a red flag.

Right there with you. The lunch breaks with my kids are non negotiable for me now. Remote work got me back time I didn't even know I was missing.

Same. I've been remote for about 18 months and the ability to actually be there for lunch with my kids has been incredible. My oldest's schedule works way better when I'm here. Can't see going back to an office full time.

The work from home life hits different. You get actual quality time instead of just existing in the same space. Plus no commute means more time being a dad.

Remote work is incredible for parenting, no question. The lunch with the kids thing is huge - can't put a price on that. My only tip is keep some boundaries or work just bleeds into family time. You have to actually leave the home office.
