Been working from home for 2 years now and I actually get to eat lunch with my kids sometimes and help with school pickup on Tuesdays. Just got the mandate that we need to be in office 4 days a week starting next month. I'm genuinely considering looking for a new job over this. Anyone else fighting with their employer about staying remote? How did you handle it?

This is the hill I'm willing to die on too. I went back in office three days a week and it cut my lunch time with my kids in half. The productivity argument doesn't hold up when you actually look at the data anyway.

Push back on this if you can. Two years of proven performance from home is stronger than 'everyone needs to be here.' A lot of companies are making this move and losing good people over it.

Honestly, if they force it, that might be your sign to look elsewhere. Remote work changed everything for me as a dad and I'm not going back either.

The in-office mandate is killing remote work culture. You've proven you can do the job from home, you're more present for your family, and you're probably saving the company money on stuff. This is backwards thinking from leadership.
